The Apprentice Arborist duties involve:

·         Learning to maintain and remove trees

·         Climbing and trimming trees in accordance with safe work practices

·         Learning, studying and achieving Certificate III in Arboriculture

 

The Successful Applicant

To be selected for this Apprentice opportunity you must be able to tick the following:

·         A current Driver’s license and own transport is essential

·         Enjoy hard physical work and be ready to start work early morning

·         You must be reliable and be able to work in a team

Desirable

·         Arboriculture or horticulture/tree cutting experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

·         A Truck license would be highly regarded

About the Role

In this unique role, you will enjoy physical work in a variety of ever changing outdoor conditions and have an eye for detail and accuracy.  Every day is different: your start and finish times will vary, you'll work hard and will be rewarded for this. You enjoy working with technology and interacting with customers. Further training will be provided. Tool of trade work vehicle is provided. Regular overtime is available.

Duties

  • Assessing vegetation around power lines
  • Using computerised GPS systems to record and report
  • Providing excellent service to our customers
  • Issuing notifications to customers as required
  • The ability to identify resources required for cutting jobs

 

Skills and Experience

 

Essential

  • Current unrestricted driver's licence
  • Cert III in Horticulture or Arboriculture
  • A commitment to working safely and productively outdoors, and where sustained physical effort is required
  • Knowledge of local tree species
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer Literate
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Extensive overtime and living away from home work expected

     

Desirable

Job Description

The EWP Operator role will work in small teams to achieve the best outcome for your customers. You enjoy working outdoors in a constantly changing natural environment. Every day is different: you start and finish early, work hard and are rewarded for this. You will have a commitment to working safely and productively outdoors. Sustained physical effort is essential element of the EWP Operator role. Periods of living away from home are required.

 

The EWP Operator’s duties will include

 

·         Operating EWP within safe work standards

·         Working at heights in a variety of weather conditions

·         Cutting of trees in line with contractual standards

·         Working with a team to produce quality results for the client

 

The Successful Applicant

The ideal EWP Operator will demonstrate competence in the following areas:

 

·         Current drivers licence MR minimum.

·         EWP ticket (high risk)

·         Tree cutting experience

·         First Aid

·         Experience working within the Utility (power line) arboriculture industry will be highly regarded but is not essential.

Vegetation Maintenance Notifier Scoper

We are seeking a Vegetation Maintenance Notifier/Scoper to work across the Sydney Metro & Hornsy region to service a long term contract with Ausgrid. Reporting to the Contract Supervisor, you will be responsible for the timely notification to residents and property owners of intended/required works and the preparation of trimming lists for field crew.
You will have a horticulture/arboriculture experience and expertise, a commitment to working safely and the ability to work autonomously and make decisions. This role requires extensive travel within the nominated region.
 
The role includes:
  • Ensuring notices of intended/required works residents and property owners
  • Providing information and assistance to residents/landowners explaining regulations, policies and procedures
  • Assessing distances between vegetation and powerlines and recording site details to assist work crews
  • Documentation of any dangerous distribution system conditions noticed whilst notifying
  • Assisting the Supervisor with field operations as required
 
About you:
 
  • A current manual driver licence, preferably MR
  • Electrical trade qualifications / licence would be highly regarded
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Commitment to working safely & following company rules & procedures        
  • Ability to work independently in a motivated and diligent manner

About the Contracting Opportunities

All contractors are preferably accredited with the relevant power authorities (Essential Energy) hold a EWP operator licence, MR licence and chainsaw operation certificates. Certificate 2 ESI and Cert 3 Arboriculture are desirable.
